Already in ancient times, many peoples had studied methods of preserving their body and skin, relying on the resources offered by Mother Nature. In this area, medicated compresses have always played a key role due to their beneficial and therapeutic qualities. The phytotherapeutic properties of herbs, the power of heat and minerals from the earth skilfully mixed and applied can assist in the healing of many ailments. At Casa Raphael you will find all the life force of carefully selected natural elements and the experience of our team, for your well-being.
HAY FLOWERS • A blend of high-mountain wild herbs, with numerous beneficial properties, heated and applied to the affected areas to relieve pain and ease muscle tension. The medicinal action of the Hay Flowers, mediated by the heat of the compress, penetrates to the innermost organs, bringing the benefit of the balsamic substances. It has an antispasmodic action and is effective in cases of muscle contractures and spasms. It soothes joint pain, neck pain, lower back pain, and lumbosciatica. It is applied in the form of a hot-moist compress (kidney/lumbosacral area, neck area or shoulders) in a thin cloth bag that has been steamed for 30 minutes.
MUSTARD COMPRESS • Black mustard flour mixed with water to maximise the revulsive potential of mustard oil. This essential oil, rich in glycosides, triggers a strong skin reaction with the development of heat and local redness, stimulating the metabolism, activating the circulation, and producing an anti-inflammatory effect on the underlying tissues. Useful for relieving muscle pain and contractures, it is decongestant, promotes blood flow, fluidifies mucus and is antibacterial.
GINGER COMPRESS • In this plant, native to the Far East, the beneficial properties are expressed through the formation of a fleshy, branched underground rhizome. Thanks to its warming, antispasmodic, and anti-inflammatory properties, the homogeneous paste of powder mixed with boiling water relieves pain, muscle tension, and contractures, bringing warmth and relief. The heat in itself is capable of unblocking, warming, activating movement: the ginger enhances the effect and has the property of radiating deep heat into the treated area. It is applied to the kidneys, stomach, chest, muscles, frontal and zygomatic sinuses.
PEAT COMPRESS • An organic substance resulting from the transformation of plant species over thousands of years and containing important mineral substances. Its anti-inflammatory, soothing and decongestant properties, together with the warmth of the substance itself, are beneficial in inflammatory and rheumatic disorders.
YARROW COMPRESS • The humble yarrow, found in its various varieties throughout Europe. It is an herb with innumerable beneficial properties that supports digestion, liver functions and soothes muscle spasms. Its application in the form of a warm compress on the liver is of great importance, as it stimulates bile secretion and supports digestive function.
CHAMOMILE COMPRESS • A plant with calming, anti-spastic and anti-inflammatory properties that grows wild in the meadows of our mountains. A warm, soaked cotton gauze is applied, which is then covered and bandaged.
HORSETAIL COMPRESS FOR THE KIDNEYS • Horsetail, like ferns and lycopods, belongs to the oldest plant family on earth, the Pteridophytes. A plant with a strong draining capacity and a master in balancing the fluid regulation processes, strengthening the kidney functions and stimulating diuresis. A cotton compress soaked in the decoction of the plant, applied directly to the skin.
FLAX SEED COMPRESS • Since ancient times, man has cultivated flax to produce textile fibres, oil and seeds. The laxative properties of its seeds are known, along with its soothing action. Their cooking leads to the creation of a mucilage with an emollient effect, with benefits in upper airway congestion and irritation.
VOLCANIC STONES • Lavic basalt has a resolving, ‘drying’ and pain-relieving action when applied warm to painful joints. It is a dry application that retains heat for a long time. Lava stone of the appropriate grain size is heated, placed in cotton bags and applied to the painful area.
COMPRESSES WITH CASA RAPHAEL OILS AND OINTMENTS • We use oleolites and ointments from medicinal plants prepared in our laboratory. The product is poured or smeared onto a cotton cloth, which is then applied directly onto the skin and covered with a band to keep warm.
QUARK COMPRESS • Quark is a fresh cheese obtained from the acid coagulation of milk which, when applied as a body wrap, continues the same process on the body. The whey separates from the quark, which therefore dehydrates and ‘dries out’. In this way, the stagnant liquids are set in motion and can be drained outwards. It therefore has a decongestant, anti-inflammatory (especially when combined with Arnica or Borago tincture) and cooling effect. Compress prepared by spreading quark between two gauze pads, then applying to the affected area.
CLAY COMPRESS • Clay is a mixture of different minerals, and when applied to the body, it triggers an osmotic process that absorbs excess fluids and toxins, providing immediate sensations of relief. It therefore has an anti-inflammatory and absorbent effect and is indicated for soothing sore and oedematous areas such as sprains and dislocations, or in swellings from trauma and inflammation in general. A layer of clay amalgamated with water is smeared between two large-mesh gauzes. The compress must be held in place until it becomes dry. After treatment, the clay cannot be reused.
CLAY AND LEVICO THERMAL WATER COMPRESS • Instead of spring water, clay can also be mixed with Levico thermal water.
A technique derived from ancient traditional Chinese medicine that involves suctioning certain points on the body using glass cups in which a 'vacuum' is formed. The skin and subcutaneous tissue are suctioned, drawing blood and generating heat; this stimulates muscle relaxation and helps relieve strains, tensions, and pain.
Pain, muscle tension and strains, improved blood circulation.
A gentle and thorough flushing of the large intestine to remove debris from the intestinal walls and cleanse the body of the toxins generated as a result of the fermentation process. It is a painless procedure, performed by specialised nurses, ideal for those seeking a natural way to cleanse their bodies. The application, performed with purified water at 37°, takes about 50 minutes and the nurse gently massages the abdomen throughout the treatment to facilitate the cleansing of the viscera.
To perform it correctly, it is best to prepare the bowels with a proper diet and take a mild laxative two days before the treatment. At the end of the therapy, a rest of 30-60 minutes is recommended, keeping the abdomen warm. This method has a rehabilitative function for the intestinal muscles and helps restore (or maintain) regular bowel movements.
Constipation, bloating, colitis, intestinal dysbiosis, headaches of metabolic origin, skin diseases, food poisoning or drug intoxications.
Body temperature plays a central role in the regulation of the immune system. Fever is a real 'special immune-competent program'. By inducing fever, the immune system is boosted and healing powers can be unlocked in a lasting way. The patient is placed in a special 'hammock'. Infrared lamps are used to bring the body to the desired temperature. A special water filter prevents thermal stress on the skin. Once the temperature is reached, the person is then moved to a bed and carefully wrapped in towels and blankets, so that the body develops a gradual increase in temperature on its own. After treatment, the temperature slowly returns to normal.
Cancer (supportive therapy as an immune system stimulant and to enhance the effect of ongoing treatments); fibromyalgia syndrome; chronic infections (Lyme disease, mononucleosis, cytomegalovirus, etc.).
It allows the infused substances to reach target cells and organs quickly and at higher concentrations. A timely treatment based on restoring the optimal level of nutrients that support the body's natural self-healing processes for a restorative, revitalising and regenerative result. This is precisely why the patient already feels the benefits immediately after treatment.
The therapy is customisable, performed by qualified healthcare personnel in comfortable and safe environments.
Today, more than ever, our bodies are exposed to a wide range of toxins, both external and internal, that compromise the health of the immune system and stimulate chronic inflammation. This increasing exposure to harmful substances, such as air pollution and ultra-processed foods, tests our body's resistance on a daily basis, making it essential to adopt strategies that help the body eliminate these waste products and restore its natural balance. At Casa Raphael we help our guests to support the body in the healing process and regain a sense of general well-being.
To cleanse the body of harmful substances caused by pollution, poor diet and stress. For those who are undergoing, or have undergone, intrusive drug therapies. And for those who simply want to 'feel better'.
Peat balneotherapy to reduce inflammation, steam baths for a true “blood cleansing” that expels toxins, and draining and activating compresses that support the organs in their functions.
A healthy, balanced purifying diet, herbal teas, remedies from our laboratory, specific intravenous therapies, systemic ozone therapy, hydrocolon therapy.
Ozone is a gas resulting from the transformation of the oxygen molecule. Oxygen ozone therapy is a medical practice with powerful regenerative, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and pain-relieving effects, with reduction of free radicals, stimulation of blood circulation, tissue regeneration and immunomodulation... a true self-healing experience! Ozone can be administered in different ways: systemic (large or small autohemotherapy - rectal insufflation), local (intramuscular - intra or periarticular), cutaneous, bladder, and vaginal.
Regeneration, asthenia, weakness, acute and chronic inflammation, anxiety, urogenital system disorders, infections, skin ulcers.
Neural therapy is based on the therapeutic use of procaine, a local anaesthetic with antalgic and anti-inflammatory properties. This method works by interrupting the transmission of aberrant information by the nervous system, leading to a reconditioning of the nerve fibres and reprogramming the normal functioning of the tissues, thus channelling the body towards healing. An outpatient method, performed by medical personnel, that acts quickly and effectively.
Acute and chronic pain of the musculoskeletal system, or in any situation where there is a long-lasting irritative stimulus, headaches, neuralgia, and dystonia.
